Q. Are you an Internet Service Provider?

A. BHS Digital is a Design Studio only. We do not provide Internet connection for the general public. Houston has a number of fine ISPs. We highly recommend contracting a Broadband Service (DSL or Cable) if it is available in your area.

Q. Do you provide Hosting Services for Client Web Sites?

A. We do not provide general Hosting Services. We do offer temporary hosting for our Web Clients through our Server while their new Web Site Domains are being propagated. Your Site URL would be an extension of our domain name. Some restrictions may apply. Call us for details.

Q. What about Internet Search Engine Listings?

A. All new BHS Digital Web Sites are listed with the most popular Search Engines at no additional charge as part of our Web Site Design Services. META TAG search content “Descriptions” and “Keywords” are imbedded in each new Web Site when the HTML pages are created.

Q. We currently have a Web Site. Can you convert our Site to a different style using our current copy and graphics?

A. Certainly. With your permission we will download your current Web Site and make any modifications you require. At the point where you approve the changes we will upload your new Site to your Host for you. Your current Site would stay Online and unaffected during the redesign process.

Q. Do you provide Web Site Maintenance Services?

A. Yes. We offer a number of flexible and very affordable Site Maintenance options to our Web clients. Available services range from an hourly rate schedule to prepaid annual contracts. Call us for details. Sorry, BHS Digital Web Sites only.

Q. We are not in Texas. Can we still utilize your Web Services?

A. Absolutely. After all, the World Wide Web is global. Whether you are across town or around the world we can build and maintain your Web Site. We support all of the popular removable media formats or files can be transferred via e-mail or FTP.

Q. How much do your Web Site Design services cost?

A. As you might well imagine there are several different ways to approach Web Site Design. Our average design fees for a small to medium size business run in the $2000 - $5000 price range. That’s not to say that we can not create Web Sites on either side of that range. Basically it all boils down to a matter of content.

Q. How long will it take to build my Web Site?

A. Depending on the size of your project and how promptly you provide us with the necessary information and materials, production time will average from two to four weeks.

Q. Do you use digital cameras to create your images?

A. Digital cameras are great for a number of applications. While the image quality afforded by digital cameras is on the rise, the vast majority still can not meet the large resolution requirements called for by film recorders and professional offset color printing presses. We have found that use of traditional medium to large format cameras and quality digital scanning is still the best approach for achieving professional results.

Q. I have some images that have already been scanned. Can I use those for my applications?

A. Yes. We suggest that you examine your materials carefully for overall image quality. Also make sure that your images meet the resolution requirements called for by the application that you have in mind. If you’re not sure just ask. We will be happy to look over any materials that you may have.

Q. Can my existing scans be color corrected or retouched?

A. Yes. We can make any corrections necessary to your existing imagery. Please be aware however that the time spent in photo editing adds up quickly. It might be more cost effective to re-scan questionable images if the original materials are available.

Q. Can I use our current scanned images and graphics for both pre-press and Internet applications?

A. It depends. Pre-press applications require that an image be scaled to size and rendered at 300 dpi in the CMYK color space. Internet applications utilize a much lower resolution in the RGB color space. Just remember that you can only go smaller. If your image is already at pre-press value then it can be converted and reduced. It doesn’t work the other way around.

Q. Do you do Head Shots and Passport Photos?

A. Byron-Hurt Studios engages primarily in Commercial Product Illustration. Due to the custom nature of our Studio Offerings we are not set up for walk-in services such as Passport or Head Shot Photography. Illustrative and Executive Portraiture Services are made available on an appointment basis.

Q. Do you provide Location Services?

A. Yes. Location services are made available for our Commercial Clients where outdoor applications are required or Studio Photography is impractical. Small products are best photographed in studio allowing for greater lighting control and creative flexibility.

Q. What about Copyright and who owns the Negatives that you create?

A. Traditionally copyright and ownership of all photographic originals remain with the Studio unless otherwise negotiated. We make every effort to honor all reasonable usage requests. In any event, Byron-Hurt Photographic Studios / BHS Digital reserves the right to use any and all images for its own advertising and / or display purposes.

Q. Do you provide Family Services such as Wedding Photography, Portraits and Senior Pictures?

A. We are asked this question quite often. Photographing Weddings, High School Seniors and Children are specialties in and of themselves. Since we specialize in Advertising and Commercial Product Illustration we have elected to leave Family Services to those who are specialists in those areas and better suited to meet your family’s needs. We do provide Illustrative and Executive Portraiture Services for our Commercial and Adult clientele. Please see our Commercial Photography section for more information.
